Practical Ways Daughters can Serve their Church

How can we as daughters be a blessing to our church family?  I’m sure many of you daughters have asked yourself this question, as I have myself.

The purposes of these ideas I will be sharing with you are to encourage you so you can be a blessing to your church and the families in it.

1. Pray for your pastor, his family, and individual families during the week.

2. Offer to take care of a busy mother’s baby so she can listen to the message.  We have many large families in our fellowship, so there are always quite a few babies around.

3. Give notes of encouragement to your friends.  There have been times when I had been feeling discouraged, and a friend gives me a sweet card with an encouraging note or a scripture on it.  It is SUCH a blessing and an encouragement!

4. Talk to the younger children.  Make them your “little friends”.  I have several “little friends”, which is really sweet.  Sometimes they’ll come up and share their latest bit of “news” with me. J

5. Help a church lady at her home, with your parents’ permission. It’s a great blessing to her and frees her to do other things, especially if she has little children.

6.  When a family has been extremely busy, or has had a new baby, maybe you could make them a meal!  I know that when my mother had my youngest brother (and I was in charge!), several families offered to bring us supper! It was so nice and such a blessing to be able to know that supper was already taken care of for that night!

7.  If your church has fellowship meals, offer to help a family with small children through the food line. If they accept your offer, you might want to ask the parents what the child you are helping is allowed to eat, anything they are allergic to, etc.

I hope that these ideas have encouraged you to be a blessing to your church body! These are just a few ideas.  There are many more ways we as daughters can be a blessing to our church families!

Keep pressing towards the goal!

In Christ Alone,

  1. Thanks for the great ideas, Rachel! Sometimes I do find myself looking for ways to serve our church -- a few of those I actually do, so that was really encouraging!

  2. Thanks for this, Rachel! :) Most of these I'm not able to do (we live an hour away from most of our church friends), but I really appreciate the list anyway. :)

  3. Rosie: You are so welcome! I wrote this article for the KBR magazine, and thought I'd share it here as well! :) I'm glad to here you do some of those same things as well!

Esther: You're welcome! :) It was fun going to your church together when we were over there in NZ :)

  4. My sisters and I have been able to help a family in our Church (they have 4 small children.) And babysit the children sometimes days at a time. :)

Another way would be to help clean up after cups of teas, AGMs, special dinners, craft events etc.
We have about 8 'older' girls on the Dishes chart and we bake for Church each week.

Thanks for sharing those ideas, Rachel!

  5. Well, Rachel. With all these responses maybe you should post more things like this! :D

  6. *Completely off-topic* :)

    HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY, Rachel!!! :D :D
May you have a lovely day, as you and your family rejoice in the years that the Lord has given you on this earth.

As you enter a new year of life, here's a little encouragement: Don't grow tired or weary of doing good (Gal. 6:9), seek the Lord and His face always (Ps. 27:8), serve the Lord with gladness (Ps. 100:2), and know that the Lord, He is God (Ps. 100:3a)!
May you grow in the Lord's Light in this next year of your life, and may the Lord quicken you according to His righteousness (Ps. 119:88)!

    Love you, Rachel!

"Delight yourself also in the Lord And He shall give you the desires of your heart." ~Psalm 37:4

  7. That's fine, Rosie. And I second that--happy birthday, Rachel! I'll try to get your card sent later today. :)

  8. Dear Rosie-
Thank you so much for the *very* sweet birthday note you left here. I was blessed and encouraged by it! :) You are such a sweet friend, and I hope we can get to know each other better in future.
*sends a hug* God bless you, dear Rosie! :)

    Dear Esther,
Thank you so much for the sweet ecard you sent me and also the comment you left here :) You are such a blessing in my life, and I enjoy our phone conversations and emails. :)
    *sends a hug*

  9. You're welcome. :) The phone conversations are fun! :)

  10. THANK YOU! That was a nice post. Good ideas. I like helping moms in their homes, that is fun. Sometimes I get to stay a few days.
