I don’t know how many of you have read or listened to part two of Pilgrim’s Progress, by John Bunyan. I’ve listened to it many, many times, and when I think of fountains of life, I think of how Mr. Valiant-for-truth was summoned to the palace. The token he was given was, “That his pitcher was broken at the fountain.” (Ecclesiastes 12:6).
Aside from that, there are several other mentions of fountains (and, more specifically, the fountain of life) in the Bible.
- Psalm 36:9, “For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.”
- Jeremiah 2:13, “For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.”
- Joel 3:18, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim.”
- Zechariah 13:1, “In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.”
- Revelation 7:17, “For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
- John 4:14, “But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Jesus’ promise in John 4:14 is also profound. “But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.”

Great post :) It is so encouraging to know that in God's light, we can truly see light, and that He is the *fountain of life*, in which we can come and have our thirst quenched with *living* water! :)
ReplyDeleteBtw, I really like the new format of your blog, as well as the new desktop background -- there're both so pretty!
